Boarding School
Our small school atmosphere and family ethos
make Moorland poles apart from other impersonal
large boarding schools. We constantly strive to
harmonise home and school life. Boarding offers
an excellent opportunity for parents to settle
children in one school rather than being continually
moved from school to school. Moorland offers several
boarding options:-
- Full boarding
- Weekly boarding (pupils go home at the weekend)
- Flexible boarding which can cater for
changing family circumstances.
We take boarders from the age of 8 years to 16 years. We have capacity for around 60 boarders, broken down into:-
14 rooms (each accommodating 2 children)
4 rooms (each accommodating 3 children)
5 rooms (each accommodating 4 children)
The majority of our boarders are the children of UK forces members (Army and Air Force). We also currently have 6 boarders from Hong Kong.
A large 20,000 square feet classroom and boarding block (details) is currently being built. The building will include new en-suite bedrooms. Our boarding capacity will rise by 40 to around 100 boarders.
Boarders live in the main school building and have access to:
- 2 computer rooms equipped with networked broadband Internet access.
- Music Practice room.
- Sitting Rooms with SKY TV.
- Common rooms.
- Library.
- Sporting facilities.
- An extensive programme of trips and excursions including at least 2 Sunday trips per term.
- Extensive 15 acre grounds.
- Fabulous food served in our dining room.
- Local swimming pool, cinema and library.
Each room is brightly decorated and is equipped with a TV & DVD player, new beds and wonderful personal touches. Boys and girls live in separate areas of the main school house. Their care is undertaken by the teaching staff and our Matron team.
Moorland provides boarders and day pupils with a wide range of activities to complement the academic programme. Games facilities include two large sports fields and a sports hall. Boarders are encouraged to take an active interest in art and culture including theatre, drama, concerts, literature and television. Clitheroe is surrounded by beautiful countryside and picturesque villages.
