When should I apply (visas)?
Some overseas parents should bear in mind that they need time for their children
to take to secure visas. The UK Visa Service is extremely slow in some parts of
the world and it can take several months before a visa is granted. Moorland can
provide your child with a firm offer of a place together with a letter of invitation.
The UK Embassy will normally issue a single entry student visa. You need to
ensure that when your child arrives in the UK they are carrying a letter from
the school which accurately identifies them and sets out the duration or the visit
and the examinations they will be taking. The immigration officer at the port
or airport will normally issue a multi-entry visa to cover up to two years of
that period.
Parents can get a visa to visit their children or look around Moorland, a letter
of invitation can be provided before a visa is sought. We can provide a range
of good hotels in the vicinity of the school and provide advice on the best travel
arrangements from airports etc. for parents wishing to stay in the area.
Is a visit necessary?
We appreciate that parents from overseas may not find it practical to visit
the school. However, we are able to put put you in contact with an ex-pupil or
parent. Wherever you live it should be possible to put you in touch with someone
in your region who either once had or has a child in the school.
Moorland can accomodate a visit by any prospective parents at any time.
