Lasting relationships
Moorland pupils have a flying start to life and it is hardly surprising that
a large proportion of our former pupils go on to be very successful in later life.
Many of them find that the friends they make at Moorland remain close throughout
their lifes.
"I was a pupil at Moorland for a number of years,
and studied for my GCSEs at the school. There is no doubt that my time at the
school improved my confidence and sense of independence. The teaching quality
was excellent, and the school is very good at encouraging students to exceed their
expectations. There is a great commitment to study, and its something that I think
pupils take with them when they leave. This was reflected in the 8 As and 1 B
that I gained at GCSE, and the qualifications that I have obtained since leaving.
While I had always achieved reasonable marks at school, I doubt that I would have
done this well if I had stayed at my previous school.
I left the school and went on to Clitheroe Royal Grammar School for A-Levels,
followed by a 2:1 degree in Physics and a Masters degree with Distinction from
the University of Liverpool. After leaving University I joined the Indirect Tax
department of Deloitte & Touche, the third largest and fastest growing accountancy
firm in the UK. I've qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the firm, and I'm
now a Manager in our Birmingham Office."
The letter above describes the experiences of a former forces boarding pupil.
