Rovers star visits Soccer Academy
Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Dunn put in a surprise
appearance at the Moorland School Soccer Academy, to
the delight and amazement of local young footballers.
David was there to give out prizes to each of the 23 aspiring
football stars who took part in the first of Moorlands ‘Football
Fitness and Fun’ weeks this Easter holiday. |

Along with Moorlands permanent
football coach Charles Jackson, David wowed the girls and boys
with a demonstration of his well known skills and inimitable style,
and was rewarded by a stunning display of football from the young
players, ranging in age from 5 to 15 years. As a local success
story whose career has rocketed during his time at Blackburn Rovers,
David’s confident playing was an inspiration to the Academy.
The permanent football coach at Moorland, Charles Jackson, has made a huge impact
since his arrival at the School in November 2002. Mr Jackson is an FA approved
coach with extensive experience of coaching children. He also works at the Manchester
United Advanced Coaching Centre.
Charles puts the girls and boys through their paces with his coaching programme
which is designed to bring out the best in all players, from complete novices
to budding Beckhams.
Moorland School is committed to a high level of excellence
in sport for all its pupils, who begin football coaching with Charles at 3 years
old. The school also offers fencing and horse-riding as part of its extensive
range of sporting activities.
The school was visited last May by Manchester United
first team coach, Mike Phelan, who gave some inspiring careers advice to senior
pupils. |
