As ‘Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO)’ I am responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Juniors SEN policy.

At Moorland Juniors we are able to co-ordinate additional support for pupils who are Gifted and Talented or have Special Educational Needs (SEN). To ensure each child is given the opportunity to reach their full potential I closely liaise with parents, teachers and other external professionals.
As SENCO I have the responsibility to enable inclusion of each child into our learning framework. With parental knowledge I can request the involvement of an external services such as an Educational Psychologist.
As SENCO I have the support of the head teacher and other teachers to try and develop effective ways of overcoming barriers to a child’s learning and ensuring that they receive effective teaching through assessing the child’s needs and setting targets for improvement. I ensure support is given to meet each child’s needs through differentiation of lessons, one to one support and our intervention programme.
