Thursday 1st December 2011 : Carol Service
The Moorland School annual Carol Service will take place on Thursday 1st December 2011. The Service will start at 6.30pm at St Mary's Church, Clitheroe. The service will include readings and carols along with a short festive piece from our Junior School. After the service pupils and parents will have a chance to celebrate the festive season over teas, coffees and mince pies.
Friday 9th December 2011 : Christmas Market
On Friday 9th December 2011, Moorland School will host its first ever Christmas Market from 4pm - 9pm. Together with the market there will be a full range of entertainment from the talented 'One Voice Community Choir' and our spectacular street dance performances to our romantic late night open air ice rink. The Christmas Market will be an ideal opportunity to sample a great atmosphere - and to bag yourself some pre-Christmas bargains at the same time. In fact, you could do ALL your Christmas shopping in one go with a fabulous range of independent shops, market stalls and famous high street brands. So act now and be a part of this festive sensation.

Saturday 28th January - Sunday 5th February 2011 : Ski Trip
Deputy Headteacher Mr Dermod Ruddock will once again lead a group of children on yet another amazing ski trip to the Italy. Our children, junior and senior, will visit three resorts, Pila, Courmayeur and la Thuile. Once their day is over they will be part of a wide variety of apres ski events such as discos and football competitions to name but a few. With Just a few places left, anyone who may be interested in being part of this spectacular adventure needs to contact school now!
Thursday 21st June 2011 : Sports Day
This year Moorland School will host the best sports day in the history of the school. The emphasis as ever is on participation. All students who are present on the day are invited / expected to participate in at least 1 event. There are opportunities for the more able to take part in a maximum of 3 events plus the relay. The students represent their houses every time they participate. There event always proves a success and I'm sure there will be some very close races and field events with the overall house competition to be won.
Friday 29th June 2011 : Year 9 Options Evening
Moorland School Headteacher, Mr Jonathan Harrison, would like to invite Year 9 Students and their Parents into school from 4.30pm-6.00pm to discuss your GCSE options. This event will provide an opportunity for parents and students to discuss and see examples of work from each academic department as well as offering one to one advice from each staff member. We hope that this evening will support you in making the right decisions for your son/daughter and to ensure that through this time they remain happy and focused on the subjects they love.

Friday 11th November 2011 : Remembrance Day
Today of all days is more poignant that all others. Today marks the 90th anniversary of the Royal British Legion. All our students will wear the poppy as a mark of respect to all those who have given their lives for the freedom we enjoy today. All students will stand to observe a two minute silence as a mark of respect and some of our pupils will be attending our local Remembrance Service at St Mary's Church, Clitheroe.
Tuesday 8th November 2011 : Prize Giving
At the end of the academic year, the achievements and successes of the last 12 months will be seen as we come together to celebrate the successes of our students at The Grand, Clitheroe. School asks for arrival by 6.30pm for a 7pm start. The evening will showcase all that Moorland School has to offer and the all round talents that our pupils possess. Lancashire Telegraph report
October 2011 : One School, One Future, One Result

September 2011 : New Sports Signing
Moorland School has added an important signing to their sports department for the new term. Clare Rennox, a former British Schools Gymnastic champion will be in charge of the PE department. Clare, who has also taught at the City of London School for Girls, said: "My passion is gymnastics, so I'm very keen to promote that. It is a great new challenge and one I'm really looking forward to."

September 2011 : Manchester City FC Development Centre for Lancashire
Moorland is delighted to announce that the Manchester City FC Development Centre for Lancashire is now based at our school.
