A Ribble Valley School
The Ribble Valley is an attractive part of North West England which adjoins
the Trough of Bowland, within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District
National Parks. Road links provide fast access to the major motorway network and
trains run from Preston to London in approximately 3 hours.
With hundreds of square miles of glorious and peaceful countryside, the Ribble
Valley is the perfect location. You can relax in the fresh air, walk the hills,
stroll along riverside paths or explore dozens of ancient villages. This is Lancashire
Witch country and Pendle Hill looms large over spellbinding historic hamlets,
which today are the haunts of hikers and home to residents who cherish the peace
and panoramic vistas offered. The rivers Ribble, Hodder and Calder wind freely
through the Valley's rich pastures.
History can be seen in Clitheroe with its Norman keep that dominates the limestone
rock high above the town's main thoroughfare, in Ribchester you can tread in the
footsteps of Roman centurians who were stationed at a garrison here, and stop
a while in Whalley and Sawley and walk amidst the ruins of their Cistercian abbeys. The
Ribble Valley has a population of some 50,000 people.
