YEAR 9 SATS 2008
Our year 9's certainly did us proud with our best ever year 9 SAT results. Our results were way above the national average. Here are some highlights. (Remember that level 5 is the minimum expected level at this age; level 6 is above national average and 7 is excellent performance. Level 8 is only achievable in maths):-

50% achieved level 7 or 8.
72% achieved level 6 and above.
100% met the expected national level (5).
Science

78% achieved level 6 and above.
95% met the expected national level (5).
English

Our average point score was fantastic. Level 5 scores 33 points, level 6 scores 39 points, level 7 scores 45 points and level 8 scores 51 points on the governments scoring system.
- Maths: average = 41.4 (national average = 36.9)

Some schools' put extreme pressure upon their pupils to achieve good SAT results.
In primaries across the country, very little goes on in year 6 other than cramming
for SATs. Moorland takes a very low key relaxed approach, making these results
even more superb. Academic work at Moorland has always been performed at a high
standard, our children are never allowed to stand still. They are encouraged to
work to the full extent of their abilities and our teachers are all caring professionals.
Moorland is a growing and progressive school which celebrates the individual.
Talents are recognised and developed to the full.
