This term, Daisies Class have been learning all about Volcanoes. The children have explored how volcanoes are formed, the location of various volcanoes around the world, what happens when they erupt and much more.
To test their knowledge and to reinforce their learning, Daisies Class planned and prepared a short lesson to teach to our Sweet Peas Class. This included a science experiment to show what happens when a volcano erupts.
As you can see, the children were enthralled by the lesson and loved taking part in the experiment.

Well done Daisies, keep up the hard work!

Another fantastic half term for The Woodlands. The children's hard work and determination has paid off as yet again they all achieved superb results in our six weekly assessments.

We cannot wait to see what the next six weeks will bring.

Have a lovely half term break, you all deserve it.

A big thank you to all our Moorland family and friends that came to watch The Woodlands Valentine's Day Assembly. We are sure you will agree the children had all worked so hard to make the event a special one, this was evident in the fantastic pieces of work each of the children read out.

Again, thank you for your continued support.

Outstanding Work

Faith Hodgson, Sweet Peas Class

After reading the story, 'Whatever Next' by Jill Murphy, Faith independently sequenced the story using pictures. Using her developing phonetic knowledge, Faith wrote short sentences to describe what was happening at each point in the story.
We are so proud of Faith's continuing hard work, well done!

SKI TRIP UPDATE.......
We have had another fine day. Everyone seems to be happy, some have made new friends and everyone is more confident on the slopes. Once back in the valley we had some fine Italian ice cream before a little exploring and shopping in the historic town centre.
What will tomorrow bring?

STOP THE PRESS.......
Moorland School win district final of Rotary Youth Speaks competition!
Moorland School’s public speaking team showed they weren’t as green behind the ears as they claimed to be as they scooped first prize at the Rotary Youth Speaks district final.
With no prior public speaking experience, Bella Ashill (13), Bezan Contractor (14) and Elissia Semons (12) wowed the judges beating off six other schools from districts throughout Lancashire and Cumbria.
Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Ribblesdale, Bella, Bezan and Elissia covered the topic of anxiety, its causes and offered a range of possible solutions. Their teacher and coach, Miss Suzanne Nolan (40) said afterwards, “I’m so proud of them all. They managed to keep calm and composed throughout, despite the high-anxiety situation. Not only that, but society can be quick to judge young adults, these days, so it was wonderful to see so many pupils from different schools in surrounding districts quashing the negative stereotype.”
The team will now go on to compete in the regional final, next month, against other district winners from the north west of England and north Wales.

Update 2 from Ski Trip:
Great day in the mountains. Blue skies and fresh powder. Here are some thoughts about the day: fun, exhausting, terrifying, epic, meh, eventful, sweaty, adventurous and bellisimo.
Bowling tonight and a good nights sleep!
