NEWS EXTRA..........Brothers in Arms!

It is great to have our chef team now established here at Moorland School.
Brothers Daniel and Joshua McGrath (Danny & Josh to us) are working extremely hard to ensure that our children are well-fed and nourished for their daily endeavours.

Danny & Josh took a little time out this week to give responses to the following most important of questions!.........

How long have you been a chef for?

Danny: "10 years"
Josh: "6 years"

Previous Experience?

Danny: "Working in many different kitchens around the Ribble Valley in places such as The Shireburn Arms, The Calf's Head, The Assheton Arms and The Waggoners."

Who is your culinary inspiration?

Danny: "Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall."
Josh: "Marco Pierre White."

How are you enjoying working at Moorland?

Danny: "I am really enjoying taking Moorland to a new level and the challenge of running a good kitchen. It is always lovely to hear the children's feedback on our food."

Josh: "Every day is a new challenge and brings something new. It is great working alongside such a strong and dedicated team each day, helping to maintain high standards."

What are your hopes for your time at Moorland?

Danny: " I want the children to enjoy our food as much as we enjoy cooking and preparing it!"

Josh: "Helping to make a big difference!"

Anything you would like to add Danny?..........

Danny: "Our aim is to make sure we set and maintain the highest of standards every day. We want to make sure that the children are getting lots of healthy and nutritious options each day that they can love and enjoy.
We insist on using the freshest and most seasonal of ingredients from local suppliers.
We have a happy and hard-working team here at Moorland.
We are very proud of that!"

Keep up the good work chaps!

Now what's for dinner?..................

NETBALL NEWS.......
(From Mrs Orr)
Hi everyone, just giving you a little update on our netball tour to Shrewsbury at the weekend. The girls were amazing, behaviour was excellent and we all had lots of fun.
We went zip lining, rock climbing, we hung on a giant swing, we climbed poles and threw ourselves off, so much fun. The girls played some amazing netball and managed to get to the finals. We were sadly beaten 9-6 in the end by Keswick Private School.

If you see the girls give them a huge congratulations, they have come a long way since year 7.
Well done girls!

During Golden Time, Sweet Peas and Buttercups have enjoyed exploring different media and materials to create new effects.

The children soon started independently experimenting with colour mixing and worked together to create a fantastic piece of art.

I wonder what fun and engaging activities the children will get up to this week!

On Friday, The Woodlands celebrated Jeans for Genes Day. The children were invited to come to school in their jeans to help raise awareness for the charity.
Throughout the day, the children learnt about how the money we raise is used to help the children and families affected.
To finish off the day, the children all took part in a 'Decorate a Pair of Jeans' competition. As you can see, there were some wonderful designs! Well done to the winning team.

The Woodlands have had a fantastic time celebrating Roald Dahl Day. The children enjoyed taking part in activities such as potion making, creating masks and of course showing off their outfits in the costume parade.

Well done to all the children for taking part in such a great day!

Really proud of our Head Boy John Dent on his outstanding GCSE results!
This represents truly remarkable value-added scores for John.
John deserves this success as he has demonstrated an exemplary attitude from the day he first walked through our doors.
We naturally wish him all the very best for his future, as we do all of our students who have left us this year.

The Boarders have had fun in the sun this week and have enjoyed a game of rugby.

Fantastic team work was displayed by all and the children had an amazing time in the process.

It was great to see children who hadn't experienced rugby before, get taught the rules and skills by the children who previously played in team games.

A wonderful time was had by all.
